Went well with Indian spiced dinner.
Went well with Indian spiced dinner.
I was in the mood for a French 75 but was having Mexican food so wanted a tequila cocktail . This fit the bill very well.
Manzanilla and Reposado worked in harmony, complemented by the pear liqueur (I used Clear Creek) and the rum (used Appleton Reserve). No ingredient dominated any of the others: 1st test of a good cocktail.
This recipe is wonderfully adaptable. I love Suze so I enjoyed it as written but have tried with Tuscan Bitter (very “botanical”), Capellini Bitter and Bigallet China-China (lovely rosy gold and blends perfectly with the elderflower and champagne). Can’t wait to try with the rest of my amaros.
Finally found a cocktail recipe which uses Midori without being too sweet! Replaced the 1/2 Oz vodka with additional gin as I have no use for vodka apart from a Bloody Mary.
Not a fan of tasteless vodka but made it according to recipe. Thought the sherry overpowered. Thought I'd try replacing the vodka with gin and had some Victoria Lane pink gin on hand which I thought would be springlike in color at least. A cocktail more balanced imo- sherry is put back in its place by the gin- and has a delicate pink blush from the gin.
