Refreshing and no complaints, but I probably won't make again. I tried this because I adore the Ruby and a simple gimlet (with just great craft gin or vodka, key lime, and a little simple syrup). It wasn't as ideal as either of those two beautiful drinks, but it was still lovely. I didn't use syrup because I don't like things sweet, which delivered a great patio aperitif. I tried adding a tiny bit of elderflower liqueur in place of the syrup with the little left in the shaker, รก la Ruby, which added only a hint of florality.
I must say, I've never bothered with the egg white, and this is a real favorite of mine. I use a local craft vodka (from Copperpenny distillery in North Vancouver), which is delicately and beautifully nuanced, and it's truly delicious and refreshing. I don't like sweet things much, and for those who are similar, I found I didn't need to reduce the elderflower liqueur in this, the way I normally might. Gorgeous.
