Sympathize with A. Garnett. Smith & Cross matches exactly what the recipe calls for, but it just sounds WRONG for this cocktail. The grassy/floral character of Clement Rhum Blanc Agricole "Canne Blue" (100 proof!) works wonders with Chartreuse. This is what a rum-based Last Word should taste like. Last Words with equal proportions are pretty sweet for my palate so I upped the rhum agricole to 1 oz and threw a lime twist into the shaker. My wife agrees: Delightful!

I love Smith & Cross, but after trying this with Clément Blanc 40%, I must admit that it makes a much better rum-based Last Word. Thanks for the suggestion!
