i do 2oz of gin and reduce marachino liquor to 1/4oz. i stir instead of shaking. while i do express the lemon peel, i drop a luxardo maraschino cherry on the bottom of the glass. the end result is a more pronounced creme de violet, including color, cocktail. eating the cherry when the cocktail is gone is a nice icing.

I like the base spirit to standout in my cocktails. So I increased the gin to 2 parts, and decreased the maraschino and creme de violet liquors to 1/4 parts each (equal parts). I also stirred instead of shaking in order to preserve the violet color that is lost in shaking. Stirring also seems to produce a richer flavor. I also dropped a Maraschino cherry on the bottom of my glass. It made for a nice after cocktail treat 😋.

+For vodka, used 1.25 shots of unflavored vodka (Absolut - my goto).
+Used pure (unsweetened) cranberry juice and added a little bit of sugar (honey - my goto sugar).
+Used Cointreau instead of De Kuyper.
-Did not add any salt.
+After pouring into the coupe glass, added four drops of orange bitters and expressed lemon peel and droped in the drink.
Very tasty.
