In seeking to echo this, I used
- 25ml Takamaka Spiced Rum
- 25ml Cocchi di Torino
- 25ml Campari
- 6-8 drops of De Kuyper Classic Bitters
(Made double (50ml etc) and divided)
This is one for the permanent roster. Surprisingly balanced, at least to my taste - the Takamaka seems to take the heft of Campari well.

Tried this as a mixed value bag: Jack Daniels, Mancino Red, brown sugar simple syrup, no maraschino. Unexpectedly interesting - not complex, but certainly greater than the sum of its parts and will definitely have again.
Made this with what I had to hand: Select and Mancino Rosso - a Vene-Asti if you will. Went down like silk - sweet and smooth from the Mancino; lightly spiced from the Select.
Add in two lime quarters and they cut through the richness but left a touch of a sharpness at the back of the throat - so better no garnish
