The best-known expression of the leading Cuban rum brand, this light rum is blended from base rums aged for a minimum of three years in white oak barrels. This maturation imparts flavour and gives the rum a light straw yellow hue.

It is difficult to image that another white rum could exist with the same strength and complexity of aroma and flavour as Havana Club Original Añejo 3 Años.

Appearance:

Clear, light straw yellow.

Aroma:

Pungent, toasted coconut, dark muscovado sugar and fudge with faint herbal vermouth/oxidised wine-like notes, pineapple and gingerbread.

Taste:

Slight honeyed muscovado sweetness, oxidised pineapple esters and caramelised pear balanced by mild ginger, black pepper spice, citrus and mellow oak.

Aftertaste:

Pineapple esters, dry vermouth-like herbal notes, delicate cracked black pepper spice, and faint vanilla oak.

Overall:

Light to medium-bodied, dry and delicately spicy with distinctive muscovado sweetness, oxidised pineapple and caramelised pear, garnished with mild ginger, citrus and mellow oak. The alcohol level may have dropped from 40%, but Havana 3 remains one of our go-to cocktail rums.
