Inspired by India and its spices, this liqueur is flavoured with cinnamon, cardamom and chili by Giffard & Cie, a fourth generation family-owned and run liqueur producer in the Loire Valley.

Named after the port city of Mangalore, situated at the union of the Netravathi and Gurpur Rivers in the west coast of southern India. Known as Mangalapura in the local Tulu language, Mangalore derives its origin from the temple of Mangaladevi, dedicated to the Goddess Mangaladevi.

Mangalore liqueur is often served as a shot, but its strong flavours also mix well with fruit juices or iced tea with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Avaliação e degustação

Experimentado em 03/03/2013

Aparência:

Clear, light scarlet red.

Aroma:

Spicy, floral and herbaceous with pimento, orange zest, cinnamon and black pepper being most obvious.

Sabor:

Immediate aggressive chilli heat, cracked black pepper and cinnamon spice with pimento.

Aftertaste:

Pronounced cinnamon and cardamom with lingering chilli heat and black pepper spice. Consider using in place of fresh chillies in cocktails – delivers far more predicable heat. Not easy to appreciate neat.
