Elgood’s Golden Newt is named after the colony of Great Crested Newts which reside in the brewer’s garden lake. A pale session bitter, it is brewed using fine pale Maris Otter malt combined with wheat malt and rye crystal. Late added dry hops include Fuggles, Goldings and American Cascade.
Sampled on 28/10/2012
(best before 28-Mar-13) Clear but with slight chill haze, golden amber with medium ivory coloured head.
Buttery biscuits (reminiscent of cheesecake base), floral grassy hops with subtle grapefruit zest.
Pronounced pine and grapefruit hop bitterness over bready malty base.
Grassy hop finish with lingering metallic bitterness.
