The Arolla stone pine grows in the Austrian Alps and generations of mountaineers have harvested the scarlet fruit before it turns into the more familiar pine cone. Josef Hofer, a family distillery since 1797, macerates the freshly picked fruit in eaux-de-vie to produce this popular après-ski drink.

Avaliação e degustação

Experimentado em 03/01/2011

Aparência:

Clear, red.

Aroma:

Pungent but fresh with strong pine aromas, walnut and hay bale.

Sabor:

Smoky yet clean and pine fresh, and well balanced with only a hint of residual sweetness.

Aftertaste:

Floral notes emerge in the long, pine finish. This is a very interesting and challenging liqueur which could be used to add character to cocktails in a similar way to a smoky Islay malt.
