Believed to be the first gin to use chicory root, BelGin is the result of a collaboration between a Belgian retailer called Delhaize (the Belgium equivalent of Waitrose), a Belgium gin-distiller called Filliers and Manuel Wouters, a mixologist from Sips bar in Antwerp.

Along with juniper berries and chicory root BelGin is flavoured with the following botanicals (we include producer’s flavour notes in brackets): rhubarb root (freshness and acidity), lemon balm (pronounced notes of lemon), dandelion (floral and earthy notes), angelica root (bittersweet taste, but not dominating), elderberry (fresh notes of flowers), and nettle leaf (for a spicy aftertaste).

Released November 2013 and limited to 5,000 bottles exclusively available from Delhaize, Belgium. The producers recommend BelGin is served with Fentimans Light Tonic Water.
