Made to a recipe created by Don Vincezno Staibano in the 1950s for Lucia, the love of his life. She wanted something stronger and less sweet than his liqueurs so he created this gin and named it Positano Gin after her birthplace.

Distilled with "a secret array of botanicals including rosemary and our illustrious amalfi lemons. After distillation we add a touch of treasured amalfi lemon oil to add to its perfume-like aroma."

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 08/04/2022

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Pungent zesty lemon dominates piney juniper.

Taste:

Soft sherbety, limoncello-like zesty lemon with dry piney juniper and rounding angelica.

Aftertaste:

Dry, lightly spicy piney finish with cleansing lemony citrus.

Overall:

A blond damsel bestraddling a lemon on the label is a clue to this being a citrus-led gin but it's citrus-led rather than being an out-and-out lemon gin.
