Marquis Vodka is made from a mixed grain 'cereal mash' which we are told by the brand owner is "predominantly rye based" but we note the bottle says "distilled from exceptional rye grains". So it appears to be a multi-grain with so little other grain content as to be considered a rye vodka.
The mixed grain mash is sourced from small batch distillery Farms in Poland for distillation at Polmos Bialystok were it is continuously distilled to 88% alc./vol. grain neutral spirit. This is then rectified in a seven-column system. The rectified distillate is then filtered through three separate stages of charcoal, cellulose plates and wax.
The water is demineralised using a reverse-osmosis system and then used to dilute the rectified and filtered distillate to bottling strength. We are assured that no sweeteners or other additives are used in the production of Marquis Vodka.
Incidentally, for those lacking in Latin, the 'nulli secundus' phrase on the front of the acid-etched silver-on-grey bottle translates as 'second to none'.

Crystal clear.
Very neutral, mineral nose with faint toasted rye bread and subtle peppery aromas. Clean, grainy palate with a creamy mouthfeel and a very mild peppery tingle. Clean, cracked black pepper finish with faint lingering liquorice.
We try to avoid the use of 'smooth' when describing spirits but we're sure others would apply the term to this vodka's slightly creamy mouthfeel.
Some will cherish this clean mellow vodka but we like a little more personality.
