Review

Le Salon Bar sits up on the third floor of and is accessed through L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon restaurant next to the Ivy on West Street (in a space which some readers will remember as formally being East@West). The location, the Joel Robuchon name (if not 'the workshop' reference) and two Michelin stars should be enough to indicate that this is not your run-of-the-mill bar.

Once escorted up in the lift you arrive in an Art Deco inspired opulent space with blood red leather chairs, black alligator leather clad tables and an impressive solid black marble fireplace. A small roof terrace saves smokers a journey and in clement whether allows non addicts to take in the Covent Garden air over a drink.

The cocktail menu tends to the somewhat more adventurous with many of the drinks based on infusions using unusual ingredients. Cocktails are also paired with morels of food in what is described a 'flavour and texture' experience

Plush and polished, Le Salon Bar is quite an experience.
