Review

A new addition to St Pancras, The Booking Office opened but a few short weeks ago, but such is its success that we feel comfortable adding it to the mix for the Camden area. Part of the new Marriot Hotel that occupies the original gothic pile, the drinks list has been created by London bar celebrities Nick Strangeway and Henry Besant, with the bar located in the cathedral-like 60-foot ceilings of the station's former Booking Office.

The duo have conjured up an epoch-evocative Victorian concept that recreates classic drinks from the time, with the focus on English ingredients. At the time of publication there were just 13 cocktails on the list (though that will be expanded to 54 including nine punches), with daisies, cobblers, fizzes and punches sitting alongside drinks that you might otherwise have associated with modern-age mixology (such as the Soyer au Champagne - cider brandy, maraschino, orange curacao, vanilla ice cream and champagne), all at a surprisingly reasonable £7 or £8 and served in bespoke, ornately decorated glassware.

A good line in premium spirits is complemented by 30 wines by the glass and beers from Greenwich's Meantime and the local Camden Town Brewery. Line your stomach with haggis bon bons, pigs in blankets and mini fish cakes.
