Review
Cofounded by Ocho7Ocho's Julián Díaz, Florería Atlántico is another winning Buenos Aires speakeasy. A combination florist and wine shop by day, from 8 pm onward a refrigerator door opens into a large underground bar. Gin is the flavor of choice here: the bar's other cofounder, Tato Giovannani, is also the brains behind the excellent Principe de Apóstoles, an Argentine gin that features local botanicals such as Yerba Mate and eucalyptus.
Floor service is uneven, but the drinks are worth the wait. The menu is an inventive and diverse tribute to the city's immigrant population, with drinks inspired by the flavors of England, Italy, Poland, France, and Spain, and if the bar food on offer (inventive, delicious, and heavy on the seafood) isn't enough, you can move upstairs to sample their full restaurant in the neighboring Brasero Atlántico.
