In November 2003 Jonathan Downey, the man behind Match bars, took over this tiny basement space in the heart of Notting Hill and created a very special den.
To quote from his press release, Trailer H has the "e-z-boy feel of a low rent, mid-60s California valley bachelor pad... a retro-sexual haven of cosmopolitan kitsch and faded trailer park glamour - cork tiles and shag pile, love songs and vol-au-vents."
Those who appreciate Trader Vic's Tiki culture and drinks will no longer have to travel to Park Lane to find Zombies, Tiki mugs and volcano bowls. Kitsch is big here and flying ducks compete for wall space with prints by J.H. Lynch and Vladimir Tretchikoff.
The A-Team bar crew produce superb, rum laced cocktails, and for those wishing to know more about the spirit, the bar also hosts a monthly rum club. Imaginative bar snacks include "Alabama Black Snake Sesame Shrimp" and "Dr. Jay's Green Chilli Fireballs". All in all a theme bar with fun, style and a lot of rum - a crammed into a small basement.
