A nondescript door next to El Mexicano restaurant and near the main entrance the Theatre Royal leads to an equally unpromising staircase. At the top of this lies a small first floor room and sadly preconceptions formed by the entrance are proved correct.
This bar is a minger in need of a make-over. The bare wooden floor and magnolia walls are inoffensive but sadly the same can't be said of the vinyl covered banquette seating and bizarrely shaped mirrors. The room is only saved by the large bowed window which looks out over the Royal Pavilion Park.
If I were judging on looks alone this bar would be a long way off making my final selection of bars to feature on these pages. However, it is saved by the bartending passion of its manager and his ability to make a mean Daiquiri. Plans are afoot to replace the ugly plastic laminated cocktail menu. Well that's a start.
