George Gilbert Scott was the architect responsible for St. Pancras, and the bar attached to Marcus Wareing's new restaurant in the hotel is a fitting tribute to his most lasting legacy.

This part of the hotel is a maximalist mix of Victorian gothic and Islamic influences, rich in ornamental mouldings, plenty of gilt and warm colours. If you're interested in such things, it boasts the world's first revolving door (well, a recreation). Those enormous church bells above you are actually fiberglass but who cares? The bar is intimate and cosy.

On the drinks side, cocktails are at £9-£13 each and for a restaurant bar the choice has been admirably kept to a short fourteen-strong list. It features drinks made from an impressive mixture of spirits and which are remarkably complex - not a Mojito in sight - served from behind a black-grained marble bar.
