A rum-based coconut flavoured liqueur. Malibu is based on rectified white Barbados rum blended with natural coconut extracts and presented in a iconic opaque white bottle with the palm tree logo.
Malibu was created in the 1980s and is produced in Barbados at the West Indies Rum Distillery which was established in 1893. The Twelve Island Shipping Company named on the bottle was responsible for the early distribution of Malibu in the dozen islands of the lower Antilles and later the rest of the world.
Malibu is based on a triple distilled light-bodied rum produced from molasses using specially designed column stills at the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados. This white rum is then blended with natural coconut extract and sugar to produce the world's best-known coconut-flavoured liqueur.
