Since 1889, the makers of Suze have blended gentian roots and plants to create bitters. In 2014 they applied this know-how to develop a range of bitters for bartenders. Flavoured with gentian, cinnamon and cardamom, Suze Aromatic Bitters were developed with French bartender, Fernando Castellon.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 01/07/2015
Appearance:
Clear, reddy-brown with brick red tones.
Aroma:
Pungent cinnamon, clove and cardamom with cracked black pepper and faint zesty orange.
Taste:
Cardamom spice leads with cinnamon and bitter gentian. Hints of clove, cracked black pepper and deep rootiness. Faint notes reminiscent of an oude jenever.
Aftertaste:
Long lingering clove, cardamom and cinnamon.
Overall:
Many will use these bitters in drinks that traditionally call for Angostura, this aromatic bitters from Suze has more pronounced gentian rooty bitterness.
