Review and Tasting

Sampled on 28/02/2016

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Honeyed and smoky with toasty bready maltiness, rubber and rich baked apple and wine aromas. With water, earthy old leather, apple and faint vanilla almond.

Taste:

Full-bodied, rich and yet dry. Peaty smoke, toasty malt and nutmeg spice with baked apple, sweet wine notes and faint mint jelly. Much sweeter with water, releasing fresh green apple and sweet cinnamon.

Aftertaste:

Long, smoky, salty and spicy finish.

Overall:

A robust, dry, spicy malt which combines smoky earthy notes with sweet baked apple and rich wine notes. Not easy but likable.
