Launched in 1963, Crested Ten was the first whiskey that the Jameson distillery bottled themselves rather than selling in cask to bonders who bottled the whisky. Originally a ten year old, hence the name, Crested Ten heralded the end of Jameson selling to Ireland’s bonded whiskey trade.
The pot-still whisky element of Crested Ten, approximately 60% of the blend, is aged 7-8 years with the grain whisky being a little younger. It is the high pot still and sherry element that contribute most to Jameson Crested Ten and tellingly its main market is Ireland with little being exported.
Crested Ten is a blended from grain whiskey and a style of pot still whiskey known as MMP. This pot still element has far more sherry influence than standard Jameson but is used younger, harnessing the lighter fruity character the sherry butts have at about 6 or 7 years old. Billy Leighton, Jameson’s Master Blender says, “It maintains a light fruitness with orchard fruits apples, pears, but you’ll also maybe pick up a little bit of a dry wine note as well and that’s coming from the sherry having been matured for that period of time.”

Clear, bright golden.
Mineral, linseed oil nose with nutty Californian raison sherry, red apple and cacao aromas.
Quite heavy, oily palate with vetetal notes and spicy oak and rich sherry notes.
The finish brings out more sherry and flavours akin to Butterkist popcorn.
