Launched in 2003, this vodka's name refers to the Russian standard for vodka, the 'green mark' or in Russian, Zelyonaya Marka. Slick packaging reinforces this with a silver and gold foil panel at the foot of the label resembling an official seal and featuring an individual bottle number.

A very slender bottle neck is sealed by a nifty pop off-and-on, metal look, plastic cap which resembles a traditional early 20th century closure. Bartenders beware, we can't see this being practical in a bar and you'd be hard pushed to ram your speed pourer into this neck.

The neck chocker features three wheat ears as a reminder to this most Russian of vodka's base ingredient.

Green Mark, which is owned by a Russian investment fund called Industrial Investors, was put up for sale by auction in August-2007 amid reports it could realize some £300million. As well as Green Mark the company owns two other vodka brands, Zhuravli and Marusya.

Subdued just cooked white bread crust nose with aniseed.

Slightly sweet, almost malty palate with great grain character and freshening fennel.

Επίγευση:

Aniseed notes build in a faintly macadamia nut finish with cracked black pepper spice.
