Launched in November 2008 this 'French' plum wine liqueur is the first of its type. Plum wine is more usually associated with Japan and Prucia represents something of a fusion between Japanese and French cultures.

Prucia is produced fom plums grown in Moissac, regarded as the finest plum-growing region in France, these are macerated in grape eau-de-vie and then aged in French oak barrels. It is produced by the French cognac maker, Louis Royer's liquor division, Bureman in partnership with the Japanese company Suntory.

The name Prucia was inspired by the French for plum, 'Prune' and the Latin-derived suffix Cia'.
