Η ιδέα ανήκει στον Αμερικάνο επιχειρηματία Allan Subin, ο οποίος εμπνεύστηκε από μία από τις παλαιότερες γνωστές συνταγές English dry gin, η οποία δημιουργήθηκε από τον Thomas Dakin το 1761. Το λανσάρισμά του έγινε στις ΗΠΑ το 1960.
