In celebration of the brand's Tricentenary, Martell has created a unique blend of 3 exceptional eaux-de-vie; a 1957 Grande Champagne, a 1982 Fins Bois and a 1979 Borderies, each representing a different century of Martel's history according to its aromatic profile. Just 3,000 bottles were released.

The powerful structure of the 1959 Grande Champagne is emblematic of the 18th century – the first century for Martel. For Benoît Fil, Martell's Cellar Master, the structure of this eau-de-vie is symbolic of Jean Martell's determination to give his House a strong foundation.

The 1982 Fins Bois represents the second century of Martell, coming from the largest cru of cognac this "smooth, delicate eau-de-vie with great subtlety", evokes Martell's rapid growth and rise to prominence during the 19th century.

Finally, the 1979 Borderies with its "silky roundness" represents Martell's third century during which the House's Cordon Bleu was created. Dominated by Borderies, Cordon Bleu, and indeed the Borderies region, became Martell's hallmark.

Martell Assemblage Exclusif de 3 Millésimes is presented in a wooden box decorated with a three-tone inlay symbolising the three centuries of the House of Martell and the three eaux-de-vie which comprise this exceptional blend. The bottle is a replica of the traditional montre flasks that were used to present eaux-de-vie samples to the Cellar Master.

Αξιολόγηση

Η γευσιγνωσία έγινε στις 04/05/2015

Όψη:

Clear, golden amber.

Μύτη:

Floral lavender, ripe passion fruit, blackcurrant and old walnuts with beeswax, honey and dried apricot.

Στόμα:

Blackened Christmas cake, dried fruit, sweet spice, walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Επίγευση:

Very long. Tropical fruit and spice. Fades with wonderful passion fruit notes.

Συνολική αίσθηση:

The three eaux-de-vie used in this blend were aged in very old casks, so the wood influence is very subtle, allowing flavours of exotic fruit to shine. The elegant understated packaging, the concept for the blend, the use of three very rare and exceptional eaux-de-vie and its fabulous rich, ripe passion fruit notes all combine to make this the best cognac I have ever had the pleasure to sample.
