Old Mout which we are handily told by its makers “rhymes with fruit” is a brand that originates from Nelson, New Zealand, but this “cider blended with pomegranate and strawberry juice” is made in the EU by HP Bulmer Limited which is in turn owned by Heineken International.

Όψη:

(sample BB 31/May/16) Clear, pinky red with thin ring of white foam head.

Μύτη:

Strawberry jam, strawberry jelly, blackberries, raspberry Mivvi-like vanilla ice-cream and boiled sweets (hard candy) with rose blossom.

Στόμα:

Slightly sweet jammy red berry fruit, strawberry jelly and strawberry jam with pomegranate. More reminiscent of a children’s fruit pop than a cider but with a partially balancing citric acidity-like bite.

Επίγευση:

Finishes with more strawberry jelly and blackcurrant jam.

Συνολική αίσθηση:

Lightly sweet and very fruity with strong berry flavours. This ‘cider’ is sure to please many younger consumers but will equally offend some older cider enthusiasts.
