Made with hand-prepared fresh kumquats macerated in alcohol and as liqueurs go, a very low amount of sugar, Fortunella was created by Lukas Stafin, a London-based bartender, who teamed up with Dariusz Plazewski at London's Bimber Distillery to bring his dream liqueur to life to launch in 2019.

Appearance:

Clear, bright golden amber.

Aroma:

Pungent and fragrant zesty kumquat with faint lemon and vanilla.

Taste:

Unctuous kumquat fruit and zesty orange oils with creamy vanilla softness. Rich but not at all overly sweet with balancing black pepper spirituous spice.

Aftertaste:

Kumquat fruit, zesty orange and mild peppery spice.

Overall:

Fortunella's squat bottle looks the part, suggesting oriental origins. That may be where the kumquats come from, but this beautifully balanced, soft, moreish liqueur is made in London.
