Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/11/2019

Appearance:

Clear, carmine red.

Aroma:

Quinine, gentian, bayleaf, ruby grapefruit, tinned strawberries, geranium, nutmeg and rooty herbal scents.

Taste:

Bittersweet with assertive grains of paradise-like spice, cooked strawberry and bitter gentian.

Aftertaste:

Long, bitter finish with lingering black pepper spice.

Overall:

One of the more bitter and spicy of the myriad of Italian red bitter aperitif liqueurs available but not quite as bitter as Campari. Lacks the fruitiness of some other brands.
