The Sheep Dip blend was created by Whyte & Mackay's Master Blender, Richard Paterson, using 16 different single malt whiskies "aged between eight and twenty years, in specially selected first-fill oak casks". It used to say between eight and twelve years. Guess we're all getting older.
The producers of this blended (vatted malt) Scotch whisky say its name hails from the days when farmers distilled their own illicit whisky and disguised the barrels by marking them 'Sheep Dip'. Farmers merchants apparently continued this tradition by entering cases of whisky as 'Sheep dip' on farmers' invoices to conceal the purchases from prying farmers' wives.

Clear, golden amber.
Old leather bag, lightly smoked tweed cloth nose with a slight whiff of iodine and brown banana skin.
Rich, slightly honeyed yet salty, fruity palate with herbal, grassy, heather flavours and a stronger burst of iodine than the nose suggests.
Finishes with springtime bonfire.
