The Jack Daniel’s Distillery may be the oldest registered distillery in America, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it remains a working distillery: producing one of the best-known and best-selling brands in the world. While it may shun being described as a working museum, the distillery is open to the public and a purpose built visitor centre was completed in 1999.
Some 300,000 people a year go on one of distillery tours and enjoy a complimentary glass of lemonade at the end. These tours are free and there is no need to pre-book with guides walking you round and explaining each process – as well as telling the odd yarn along the way. While the regular tours are free, it is worth booking a place on one of the tasting tours which costs $10.95.
