The final whisky in Highland Park’s ‘Valhalla Collection’, Odin follows Thor, Loki and Freya in celebrating the distillery’s Norse heritage and is presented in the same distinctive wooden frame resembling a traditional Viking long ship.

Known as ‘the furious one’, legend has it that Odin is the strongest of all the Norse gods and driven by an unquenchable thirst for wisdom. By sacrificing an eye for a drink from the Well of Wisdom, he earned immeasurable knowledge and insight, although will have to forego epic 3d films on netflix.

A limited global release of only 17,000 bottles.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 11/03/2015

Appearance:

Clear (clouds with water), golden amber with bright golden tints.

Aroma:

Caramel/fudge, leather, piney wood, Muscovado sugar, cinnamon and toasted walnuts. Earthy peatiness and dried grassy notes are amplified with water.

Taste:

Gently peaty with chewy oak, great toasty barley character, dry roasted nuts, blackened fruit cake and well-proportioned cinnamon and nutmeg spice. Vegetal peaty notes are intensified with water.

Aftertaste:

Long lingering lightly smoked walnuts, nutmeg and cinnamon spice.
