Sambuca

Considered by many as the national liqueur of Italy, Sambuca takes its name from the Latin name for elder, a shrub which, along with anise, is an essential ingredient in all sambucas. Originally the medicinal properties of these two main ingredients helped its popularity as a therapeutic drink.
