Willett 4-year rye was not the most ideal pairing with the Cynar. Too bitingly bitter in the end. Somehow not sweet enough. 2:1 produced more rye whiskey character, but the Cynar still stunned my tongue... I think I'm just craving a Little Italy. Bit of a teaser, this one.

First impression was a bit too sticky in the mouth. A good stir on ice improved the texture and temperature.

A great no-nonsense drink that permits rye's spiciness and Cynar unique bitterness to shine through for those who are able to appreciate the strong flavors.

We serve this in a Nick and Nora glass which, perhaps, makes it more of a gangster moll's air kiss. A few drops of Boker's Bitters doesn't go astray for us.
