Oh my this tastes like a home made chocolate orange cake - all the flavours but without the extra sickly sweetness added to make it sell.
The Aquavit superbly balances out the other ingredients - the caraway is there but in the background the orange and chocolate hand in hand.
I use Bobs Mole bitters so a touch of spice there too.
All in all a right champion drink.
This has to be one of the weirder sets of ingredient combinations I have had on this site but it just works. Sweet coffee, spiced orange, and a hint of caraway doesn't sound like it should be good but it is.
Just as an added note, if you’re running low on Aperol, which I often am in the summer, Amaro de Toscana makes a very suitable substitute. It changes the profile, adding a more earthy, anise footing but entirely enjoyable.
