Liking both mezcal and Italicus I was looking forward to this but found it rather underwhelming. Both with and without the agave. Didn’t taste like I was getting the best of either ingredient, they seemed to wash each other out. The Daiquiricus is better use for the italicus and an Illegal Margarita is better use of the mezcal.
I really like this drink, but it doesn’t need the extra sugar from the agave. In spite of its origins, I prefer to use Bergamatto liqueur rather than Italicus for most mezcals. The olive garnish is brilliant!
I happen to have these exact ingredients on hand, but green olive garnish? I’m hesitant on that one. Seems like an orange zest would be a better choice. We shall see…
