I love this! Spirit forward and absolutely delicious. Not for those who seek a sugary sipper. The Nonino provides just enough sweetness to tame the repasado and mezcal. I used Montelobos Espadín Joven, and Ocho Terroir Select Repasado with Angostura Orange bitters.
I liked this quite a bit. It's smoky, from the mezcal, and a bit "funky", from the reposado. The Nonino is subtle but adds some nice complexity. I used Patron Reposado & Del Maguey Vida Clasico Mezcal.
Not bad at all. This is a drink where using a reposado definitely makes a difference. The barrel notes give it a different character that to my mind works a lot better with the Nonino than the minerality of a Blanco would.
I was worried about the mezcal overpowering the nonino but nope. next time I might add another dash of bitters to undercut the sweetness a little bit, but I also don't want to disrupt the balance so maybe just a couple drops of saline
