Really enjoyed this Last Word variation. Used 1 dash red Tabasco and 1 pinch Cayenne, and I thought the heat level was, if anything, a bit too timid for my Arizonan palate. Will try 2 dashes Tabasco next time.
This cocktail is different from what I expected. The balance of the four equal ingredients (a cool riff on a Last Word) is really nice. The hot spice introduction is something that is intriguing, then interesting, but eventually becomes overwhelming. As the spice builds up in your mouth, the cocktail ceases to be refreshing, and it's soon more "challenging" than anything else. It makes it impossible to have more than one. It's good, but not great. And the garnish is ridiculous. Just skip that...
