I would not expect a bit of salt and blanco to make such an interesting and tasty drink, but here we are! I had some blanco tequila I was eager to clean up as I'm not a fan of the stuff and this drink not only proved to be a good means to do it...it also managed to be more enjoyable than the classic Cuba Libre to me! A good quality blanco helps this stand out, I suspect. And I was a little aggressive with the salt.

5/12 of an oz of lime juice? Peculiar.

I think I'll go with a tablespoon. Seems to me there's more of a difference from lime-to-lime than 1/12th of an oz would make.

5/12oz = 12.5ml is a common measure here, as 25ml is the legal measure for spirits. A tablespoon is officially nearer to 15ml (1/2oz).

S'alright. Was skeptical of the need to add salt into the drink with the salted rim but it definitely is necessary. Still think the Cuba Libre works better

Indeed a true Tequila 'n Coke with salt. Probably the best drink you could make with a Mixto without it being too bad.

This was outstanding. Understand why it is popular in Mexico. It is kind of a Margarita meets a Cuba Libra. Has the best of both drinks. Went perfectly with a spicy Mexican meal.

If you are in doubt about how much is 2 pinch, go easy on the salt - you could always add more. If you end up adding too much (like I did), adding a bit of bitter could salvage it.

You raise a good point. Better less than too much. Hence, I have reduced to 1 pinch of salt in the recipe above. Many thanks.

5/12 oz is close enough to the juice from 1/2 lime. Salt really brings this cokctail to a whole 'nother level vs a rum and coke or cuba libre.
