J&B Rare cocktails

J&B Rare is a beautifully balanced expressive whisky with creamy cereal and nutty vanilla. It's lighter than many other scotch whiskies with more delicate smoky notes so it mixes harmoniously with, rather than dominating other ingredients in a cocktail.

J&B Rare Rhubarb Hard Seltzer

Glass: Collins
Garnish: Fresh cherry & cinnamon stick
How to make: POUR ingredients into ice-filled glass and briefly stir.
- 50 ml J&B Rare
- 10 ml Sugar syrup
- 4 dash Rhubarb bitters
- 125 ml Apple & cinnamon sparkling water (add sliced apples and cinnamon sticks to a jug of sparkling water for an hour or two)

Sinatra Sour

Glass: Coupe
Garnish: Lemon zest twist (discarded) & black maraschino cherry
How to make: SHAKE ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.
- 35ml J&B Rare
- 10ml Lemon juice
- 10ml Sugar Syrup
- 15 ml Pasteurised egg white
- 3 dashes Angostura Bitters

J&B Rare Gimlet

Glass: Nick & Nora
Garnish: Lime zest twist
How to make: SHAKE all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.
- 50ml J&B Rare
- 25ml Lime cordial or better home-made lime cordial made by:

  • Add the grated zest of 2 limes into a saucepan.
  • Squeeze the juice of the 2 limes into a measuring jug, approximately 60ml, and top up with water until you have 100ml of liquid.
  • Add to a pan with 200g of caster sugar.
  • Heat gently, do not allow the liquid to boil and stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Strain into a heatproof jug and cool.

How to make: STIR all ingredients with ice and strain into chilled glass.
- 50ml J&B Rare
- 25ml Balthazar Vermouth
- 5ml Benedictine
- 2 dashes Peychaud Bitters

J&B Rare Scottish Coffee

Glass: Toddy
Garnish: Float 3 coffee beans
How to make: STIR whisky, sugar and boiling water. Add coffee and stir to ensure sugar dissolves. FLOAT cream on the surface of drink.
- 40 ml J&B Rare
- 30 ml boiling water
- 1 cube Brown sugar
- 50ml Espresso coffee
- 10 ml Double cream

Glass: Old-fashioned
Garnish: Orange zest twist
How to make: STIR all ingredients in glass with two ice cubes for 20 seconds to mix and dilute. Top with more ice and serve.
- 60 ml J&B Rare
- 10 ml Demerara sugar syrup (2:1)
- 2 dash Angostura bitters

- 30 ml J&B Rare
- 5 ml Triple Sec
- 125 ml Sister's Soda Guava & Lime

- 125 ml Franklin & Sons Elderflower tonic water with cucumber
