It was 1:30am and my juicer was going to make so much noise that I decided to cut my orange into 8 parts and use my lime squeezer. I hadn't thought that by doing so I would also squeeze out the essential oils (i think) from the orange peel, which has given it a citrusy, even spicy, flavour that I hadn't experienced until now. The ice dilution will bring down the orange flavor...
You have to try it instead of with olives and onion, with what in Spain we call banderillas, which has an olive stuffed with pepper, an onion, a pickle and chilli. You can add a shot of the brine to the mix.
Amazing drink, although it took me three sips to fully appreciate it. I used Ypióca Reserva, an aged, smokey Cachaça. The recipe says 'no garnish' but a dried lemon wheel may fit very well.
Same here, I love Fernet, but took me a few sips to apareciste this drink. I used the same cachaça, but instead the lemon wheel I used a lemon zest
