Relaunched in summer 2010 with a new smoked glass replacing the old emerald green bottle and a jump in strength to 46.3%. Since the change Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old has been bottled without chill-filtration or added colouring.

Bunnahabhain’s label still features a seafaring Scot, ‘The helmsman’, wearing a tartan bonnet searching for home.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Clear, light to mid golden amber.

Aroma:

Butterscotch, faint smoke, nut and vanilla with citrus, apple and sea spray. Water amplifies smokiness.

Taste:

Faintly sweet with nutty sherry, sultana and faint marine saltiness. Water reveals fruitcake and festive spice.

Aftertaste:

Sherry, nuts, cut grass and brine.
