Fresh Meeker raspberries are infused in neutral alcohol and the infusion distilled in a small Holstein copper pot still. Raspberry juice is added after distillation. The fruit used is the intensely flavoured Meeker raspberry from the noted berry region of northern Washington State.
Fraser River Raspberry Vodka is only produced once a year, soon after the berries are picked. It is packaged in a dark brown bottle as it was discovered that the UV rays that came through the clear glass damaged the delicate natural colour the addition of juice imparts. However, when we returned to our sample bottle kept at room temperature in a dimly lit room with very little natural night we found it had turned to a clear golden amber colour.

Clear, delicate red but turns golden amber with age.
Raspberry flavoured candyfloss.
Wonderfully light and slightly sweet. The flavour is subtly real raspberry with a peppery bite of the spirit with none of the jammy flavours found in most raspberry flavoured vodkas. A splash of water subdues the spirit but brings out more of the raspberry flavour.
Strangely reminiscent of the outer crust of a Raspberry Mivvi ice-cream – or at least how I remember them.
