English cherries marinated in Somerset apple eau-de-vie. The label says they are excellent with ice cream or desserts, but we prefer these in a rye Manhattan as an alternative to a maraschino cherry.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 13/08/2013

Appearance:

Plump, dark, purple/brownish cherries in claret red, clear spirit (not syrupy).

Aroma:

Assertive cherry stone and cooked apple in a heady spirit nose, smells like Christmas.

Taste:

Saturated, bulging fruit with tannic-rich skin to bite through to soft flesh. Explosion of flavour in the mouth with cherry, cherry stone and bitter almond, ameretto and grilled almonds. Note: these have stones in.

Aftertaste:

Fades with spirituous complexity.
