Accord Royal (literally 'royal agreement'), celebrates a royal warrant granted by King Louis XV of France permitting Monsieur Rémy Martin to plant a new vineyard in 1738, something that was strictly forbidden at the time. The vineyard started producing eaux-de-vie 14 years later.
Blended in 1997 by cellar master Georges Clot, 1738 Accord Royal is a Fine Champagne cognac comprising 65% Grande Champagne and 35% Petite Champagne with over 240 eaux-de-vie aged 4-20 years old and is said to have an average tasting age of 12 years old.
Along with Rémy Martin's 'Club' this cognac occupies a position in Rémy's portfolio which could be likened to that of Napoleon among its competitors. However, the 1738 benefits from 6-8 months more aging in new wood compared to the Club and is consequently richer, more mescaline in its flavour profile.

Clear, deep coppery amber.
Spicy toffee, fruitcake, caramel, crème brûlée, leather, chocolate, mocha coffee, plums, and toasted almond with marzipan, fig marmalade, and ginger cake. Faint attractive linseed oil note reminiscent of cricket bats
Butterscotch, nutty and woody with cinnamon spice, tobacco, rich fruitcake, dried fruit and ginger cake. Dry but with demerara sugar notes.
Prunes, grilled almonds, dried fruit, ginger cake, and dark chocolate with cinnamon and enlivening black pepper spice.
Rich, robust and spicy with almonds, cigar box, butterscotch, cinnamon, tobacco, fruitcake, dried fruit, toasted almond, chocolate, and ginger cake. 1738 has the body to be considered a cigar cognac but with Fine Champagne finesse.
