Abt is Dutch for abbot, the head of an abbey. Hence Van Eecke use 'Abt' in the name of this beer as it has the highest alcohol content of their Kapittel range. This triple benefits from second bottle fermentation and is bottle aged a few months at the brewery prior to release.

This triple-style ale is brewed with two varieties of hops and four varieties of malt. (They say can be aged for up to 20 years.)
