One of two porters inspired by historical recipes released in August 2014 as part of Guinness’ Brewers Project. This West Indies Porter is based on 1801 recipe which apparently was the precursor to the Foreign Extra Stout.

Brewed at the pilot brewery at St James's Gate which has an automated 1 hectolitre (100 litre) and a manual 10hl brew kits.

Aparência:

(sample best before 27/June/15) Opaque, ebony with retentive thick ivory/tan head leaving heavy lacing.

Aroma:

Chocolate, molasses, raisin and mocha coffee with cut grass and pine.

Sabor:

Brilliantly balanced with dark chocolate, caramel and coffee with buttery oak, vanilla, bitter pine and grassy hops.

Aftertaste:

Lingering piney hop bitterness.
