Unusually, this mezcal was aged (or ‘finished’) for 2,976 hours/124 days in American oak barrels which for 20 years previously held Stitzel Weller Wheated Bourbon. (sample Lot. CF SLR-126/128) Clear, very faint straw yellow tinge.
Burnt oatcakes, floral (honeysuckle) and pink grapefruit zest. Dried and smoked meaty notes.
Citrus zest, minerally with salty smoked dry oak notes. Very faint nutty bourbon richness.
Salty, smoky bacon and lightly woody finish.
Smoky bacon, chalky mineralality, sea salt and spicy oak. A tad overly salty perhaps.
