Firkin Gin is made in batches (by an undisclosed Scottish distiller) of around 250 bottles and is distilled with four botanicals (juniper, coriander seed, angelica root and orris root). This particular limited edition was then aged in ex-Lagavulin casks. (A firkin is a type of cask.)

Each bottle is individually hand-filled, corked, sealed, labelled and wax dipped.

Avaliação e degustação

Experimentado em 27/12/2015

Aparência:

Clean, golden amber.

Aroma:

Pungent resinous piney juniper, newly sawn oak, cinnamon spice, nutmeg, smouldering wood smoke and faint old-fashioned antiseptic.

Sabor:

Initial honey sweetness is quickly dried by piney oak and light wood smoke. Warming black pepper spice, sweetened lime peel, ash, vanilla and sea salt.

Aftertaste:

The long finish is a continuation of the palate.

No geral:

Like many aged gins this Islay influenced gin will offend many gin drinkers but delight a few.
