The Heath Superior London Dry Gin is produced using a 30-litre copper pot still by a young couple who were inspired by strolls on Hampstead Heath, so flavour their gin with botanicals such as dandelion, rose, hawthorn berries, burdock, rowan, and sorrel. "We're bottling the spirit of the heath."

The couple, Mercedesz Bondi and Callum Sinclair have partnered with the Heath Hands, a charity working to conserve Hampstead Heath, to share a proportion of the profits from the gin with them.

The Heath Gin is infused with 16 botanicals including key ingredients native to Hampstead Heath; dandelion, rose petals, mountain ash, and burdock. These are distilled alongside classic gin botanicals such as pink grapefruit, orange, kaffir lime leaves, grains of paradise and cubeb pepper.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 28/04/2021

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Attractively floral with nutty, almost balsawood-influenced steamed asparagus. Juniper is very subdued.

Taste:

In contrast to the nose, piney juniper leads the assertively spicy dry palate, enriched by generous sweet floral notes.

Aftertaste:

Floral spicy piney juniper with lingering nutty/woody angelica.

Overall:

There's something about this floral gin that tastes attractively small batch and artisanal.
